1.  Does your committee support a web page?  If so, is it served by the

AMS?  If not, where?

Yes, our committee supports a web site.  I supported this site till September 2002, since then it is supported by AMS.

2.  Does your committee attempt to communicate with colleagues within your

discipline, but who are not on the committee?  If so, how?

Yes, we have a list of colleagues here in US and in Europe both from the computer science and meteorological sides whom we inform about our committee activities.  For example, before we presented a Short Course on NNs in Jan 2002, we informed our colleagues.  I think, this extensive informational campaign contributed a lot to good attendance of our Short Course.

3.  What is the highest priority support you receive from Headquarters?  How can this be improved?

I think, since our web site is moved to AMS, the highest priority support for us is our web site support.  It can and should be improved! I sent the new revised version of our site to Corinne Kazarosian on Dec 3, 2002.  I did not get any response yet and the web site was not updated.

4.  What additional support would you like to receive?

Reduce the complexity of some procedures.  For example, for waiving the registration fee, the person should at the beginning pay and then make paperwork to get refund.    Sincerely speaking, my invited speaker form JPL will definitely not do it.  I do not know what to do: to pay the registration fee for him out of my pocket, to give him my pass, or what else?

5.  Are there any matters you would like presented to either the Executive

Committee or the Council next month?  (If I receive any, I'll try to get

some consensus among all of you regarding our Commission's viewpoint to

present.)

No
